Why I decided to Travel the World
It may sound a bit cliche but when I was 13 and worked at a bakery (Bakkerij Hartog in Amsterdam) the elderly owner Mr Hartog gave me the valuable advice not listen to what everyone would tell me but to travel the world instead. He said that this would eventually broaden my horizon more than anything else.
As the man proposed, I travelled the world. During my studies I lived in Vienna, Sydney, and even spent a full year in Macau, China. I backpacked and did research all around South America, Asia, the USA, Australia, Africa and of course my home continent Europe. Next to these this, however, I did study and work my ass off. I’m aged 26 now, got my MBA, two Bachelor Degrees and fulltime work experience for Google and in Tourism Marketing in the Netherlands.
So, what do I do now?
You guys must wonder, how does this girl ever afford all of that? Well, I work as a Freelance Digital Strategist. I create marketing strategies for businesses and help implement them. This could be with Google Ads, SEO, social media marketing, blogging, influencer marketing etc. It’s an amazing job because I can choose which companies I want to work with and they choose to work with me. Oh and the best thing about it is that I can work from anywhere around the world.
